About the Artist

AM RISE Studio

Aisha Daritza Muhammad (b. 1999) is a Black Latina Contemporary Visual Artist from Panamá, based in North Carolina. She uses figurative painting to explore healing, identity, and emotional inheritance, showing how people grow through both connection and solitude, shaped by family history and personal experience.

Her work is rooted in storytelling, memory, and lived experience, drawing from both personal and shared narratives.

Her ongoing series, Feed the Sun in Me, focuses on healing, self-love, and emotional growth through lived experience. It reflects on how struggle is both personal and shared—how what one person carries is often connected to what others within their family and community also endure. Through this, she explores the understanding that we are not alone in our experiences of hardship, growth, and becoming.

Through figurative painting, she explores how experiences, stories, and lessons are carried within the body and bloodline, shaping who we become. These experiences often reveal themselves in the body, in expression, and in the way a person emotionally holds themselves.

The series reflects on nurturing inner light while acknowledging the shadows that shape it, recognizing grief, labor, care, and growth as connected forces.

It also explores the relationship between human connection and solitude, showing how both shared experiences and moments of isolation contribute to personal becoming.

Across her work, figures often appear grounded, weighted, or reaching, embodying endurance, tenderness, and transformation.

Her portfolio features one-of-a-kind artworks, each crafted with passion and intention. Aisha enjoys experimenting with new mediums, embracing organic forms, layered materials, and textural surfaces to push the boundaries of creativity. Alongside her traditional work, she also produces digital illustrations that expand her storytelling into new spaces.

Her practice includes painting and handmade framing, and she is currently exploring mural art (wall art) and crafting (jewelry making and ceramics) to bring her work into new forms and environments.
